The Grace School of Applied Diplomacy held its sixth annual international conference, „Complex Diplomacy in Turbulent Times,“ on 23–24 October 2025. This virtual event explored new academic research on how diplomacy can encourage new thinking in the context of today’s global complexities.
The conference concluded with a panel discussion entitled „Diplomacy’s Domestic Dimension,“ inspired by the book Home Engagement in Diplomacy: Global Affairs and Domestic Publics, published by Brill. At the panel, Hanna Pfeifer addressed the question of who represents the public in public diplomacy, focusing on the German case. This was based on a chapter that she, Anna Geis and Christian Opitz had written for Home Engagement in Diplomacy, called „The Evolution of Domestic Public Diplomacy in Germany Since 1990.“
